Consider this a mini art lesson.
Today you don’t have to visit a museum to learn about art. Recently the Colorado History Museum showcased the work of Colorado artist Bernard Arnest with an article by Stan Cuba.
Arnest began his formal training at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (CSFAC) art school under Boardman Robinson and Henry Varnum Poor.
Arnest made this mural study in oil on illustration board as an exercise at the CSFAC art school around 1936 while a student of Boardman Robinson’s. This mural study and additional examples of Arnest’s work are featured in the article.
Arnest went on to become the chief instructor at the Minneapolis School of Art and throughout his life held teaching positions at the University of Minnesota, Colorado College, and the Fine Arts Center. Kraushaar Galleries in New York represented him from 1947 until his death in 1986. CLICK HERE to see Stan Cuba’s full article.
